A Black Day

They way we were

This is just a brief note on a black day.

We are all shocked here at Mountford, but all staff are accounted for. Friends and family are alive and well, although we are still holding our breath and waiting on word from some. Mountford Estate is ok, we are far enough away from the centre to not be to bad here. Our hearts are going out to our friends and family and staff that have lost homes etc. Our thoughts are with those that have lost loved ones or still have loved ones missing.

We just dont know what to make of this. The relief we felt that the September the 4th earthquake happened at the time it did, meaning no loss of life, has turned into a nightmare. This is what happens. Christchurch is shocked and wounded. We will have the strength to go on, we are witnessing that from the many volunteers offering their services, their homes, their clothing and food.

We will all do what we can and we will survive, but today Christchurch grieves.

Glad to hear that everyone is ok. The loss of life is the true tragedy here, of course, and my thoughts are with everyone affected.

My heart and prayers are extended to all the marvelous people of Cantebury, especially the folks of beautiful Christchurch. My travels there began 7 years ago when I fell in love with a country, New Zealand. The lovely people of the South Island extended to me a perfect stranger from Boston, kindness, true friendship, loyalty, it’s amazing sense of humor and the best wine in the world.
One thing I have learned, Kiwi’s are strong, extremely organized, highly intelligent and most importantly a people who are united in heart and spirit, you will pull together and become stronger and rebuild one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
I shall continue to keep you all in my prayers,,,,,, and in my heart……
